Allison Williams (actress)

Allison Williams is an American actress. She is the daughter of NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams.

Williams was raised in New Canaan, Connecticut and knew she wanted to be an actress at a young age.[1] She was allowed to pursue an acting career by her parents on the condition that she graduate from college first. She attended Yale University and graduated in 2010.[1] While at Yale, Williams was a member of the improv comedy troupe Just Add Water for four years.[2]

In 2010, she performed a mashup of "Nature Boy" set to RJD2's "A Beautiful Mine", the theme song for the television series Mad Men.[3] The YouTube video of the performance received widespread praise on the Internet,[4] and earned her an invitation from Judd Apatow to audition for the HBO TV series Girls.[1] She was cast shortly after and credited her experience at Just Add Water for passing the audition.[2][5] Girls is set to premiere in April 2012.

Williams wrote a series of Funny or Die sketches in which she starred as newly wed Kate Middleton.[1]
